Competitor Requirements

  • Athletes will only be allowed to have their weight taken once
  • Athletes may weigh in without knee or elbow braces but they must be inspected
  • Athletes that have collegiate wrestling experience, earned a black belt in Judo, or have competed professionally in MMA are not permitted to compete in the white belt division.
  • The athlete may not have any shoes or other items on besides his/her gi and equipment that is permitted during the tournament
  • Patches may only be placed in authorized regions of the gi
  • No patches or text will be allowed on attire that contain any text or symbols that could be offensive to gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, culture, religion and politics
  • No patches or text will be allowed on attire promoting violence, vandalism, sexual acts, drugs, alcohol or tobacco
  • A gi brand tag in the front lower part of the pants and be at most 36cm squared will be permitted
  • The use of any foot gear, head gear, hair pins, jewelry, groin protectors or any other protector made of hard material that could cause injury to an opponent is forbidden. Eye protectors are also forbidden in all cases
  • Female athletes are permitted to cover their heads. Head cover must be fixed and made with elastic fabric, not contain any hard or plastic material, not contain strings of any kind, be clear of logos, be completely black
  • Any joint protectors that are big enough to make it difficult for your opponent to grip the gi are forbidden
  • Undergarments are required
